Three-day Schützenfest of the Hagen-Mahnburg Marksmen's Association of 1951
Hagen-Mahnburg is a twin village with fewer than 500 inhabitants, which has belonged to the town of Wittingen since its incorporation. Despite its small size, the village has a vibrant club life, supported by the Marksmen's Association, the fire brigade, and other local groups. The annual Schützenfest is the highlight of the village year and brings the entire community together.
The Hagen-Mahnburg Marksmen's Association was founded in 1951 during the reconstruction phase after World War II. In its over 75 years of existence, it has become firmly integrated into the village community. Members of various generations maintain the sport of shooting, foster community life, and, above all, preserve the tradition of the annual Schützenfest.
The reigning 2025/2026 Marksmen's Queen is Myriam Jordan. She follows in the tradition of Hagen-Mahnburg's royalty and will hold the representative role until the 2026 shoot. At the proclamation ceremony during the festival weekend, she will hand over the crown to her successor.
The three-day format concentrates the festival from Friday to Sunday: Opening on Friday evening, the King's Shoot and King's Ball on Saturday, and the parade and family day on Sunday. This compact structure suits the size of the village and ensures an intense, communal festival atmosphere.
Friendly marksmen's associations from neighboring villages – including the second company of the Wittingen Marksmen's Society – will be represented in the parade. These processions demonstrate the camaraderie among marksmen beyond the village borders and contribute to the festive atmosphere.
The compact three-day structure suits the village size and allows for an intense community experience. The family program and dance evenings are aimed at all generations.
Friendly associations from the Wittingen area will be present at the parade, underscoring the regional character of the festival.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the Marksmen's Association in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points:
Schützenplatz Hagen-Mahnburg, 29379 Wittingen-Hagen-Mahnburg (Gifhorn district).
