Grand parade as part of the Goslar Schützen- und Volksfest
The Goslar Schützen- und Volksfest is one of the most traditional club festivals in the region and is organized by the local marksmen's club. The ten-day festival calendar includes marquee catering, carousels, shooting galleries, beer tents, and family days. Within this framework, the parade plays its own role: it is the only event that is entirely relocated to the city center and takes place in the squares and alleys of the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town.
Participants include the marksmen's clubs of the city of Goslar, the royal couples from past and current seasons, music bands, flag bearers, marksmen's youth, and representatives of friendly clubs. The assembly takes place in the early afternoon, and the parade begins at 2:30 PM, following a designated route through the city center.
Before and after the parade, the rest of the Schützen- und Volksfest program continues on the festival grounds. Those who watch the parade in the city can then conveniently switch to the festival grounds and continue their day in the marquee or on the funfair. Thus, July 4th offers a compact day trip that includes both components of the Goslar Schützenfest weekend.
The Schützen- und Volksfest has been a firm fixture in Goslar's event calendar for decades. With the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town as a backdrop and the funfair grounds on the outskirts, the city creates an unusual interplay between historical substance and folk festival atmosphere. The parade marks exactly this transition and makes it particularly visible for an afternoon.
Within the ten-day Goslar Schützen- und Volksfest, the parade is considered the most popular event. Residents, tourists, and friends of the marksmen gather at the classic assembly points and accompany the procession to its end point.
Those who wish to see the parade should find a spot along the route in advance. Afterwards, it is recommended to head to the festival grounds, where the Schützen- und Volksfest continues with carousels, shooting galleries, and a marquee late into the night.
The detailed program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in early summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
