Schützenfest Garstedt / Wulfsen / Schierhorn

Schützenfest of the Garstedt-Wulfsen and Schierhorn Associations

The joint Schützenfest of the Garstedt-Wulfsen e.V. (founded 1928) and Schierhorn e.V. marksmen's associations is one of the largest Schützenfeste in the southern Harburg district. Three marksmen's towns – Garstedt, Wulfsen, and Schierhorn – celebrate together on the Garstedt Schützenplatz (marksmen's grounds), uniting their traditions for a five-day festival.

Five Festival Days from Thursday to Monday

From 25 to 29 June 2026, the festival will span five full days. This duration is exceptional in the Harburg district and underscores the event's significance. Each day has its own programme focus – from the opening on Thursday, the Grand Zapfenstreich, the King's Shoot, and the parades, to the Frühschoppen on Monday.

King's Shoot and Parades

The King's Shoot determines the new monarchs of the three associations. Several parades wind through the marksmen's towns, accompanied by marching bands, ladies' departments, youth groups, and friendly neighbouring associations. Ceremonial highlights such as the Grand Zapfenstreich in the evening and the proclamation of the new kings are moments when the marksmen families come together in a special atmosphere.

Festival Tent and Volksfest Character

In the large festival tent, marksmen celebrate King's Balls in the evenings with live music and dancing until late. Showmen, carousels, and stalls lend the festival its classic Volksfest character. The Family Day, featuring a Children's King's Shoot, games, and a rich children's programme, puts the youngest festival-goers at the centre.
