Traditional Tent Schützenfest of SV Eystrup e.V. at the Schützenhaus on Schützenstraße
Eystrup is the main municipality and administrative seat of the Eystrup municipality of the same name in the Nienburg/Weser district. The town is conveniently located on the Bremen — Hannover railway line and the B6 federal highway, is a market town for the region, and home to the famous Galerie-Holländer windmill. The community life is characterized by an active club landscape with rifle clubs, sports clubs, mill enthusiasts, the fire brigade, and others.
The Eystrup Rifle Club e.V. has a special tradition: it is the club of the farmers' and citizens' riflemen of the Eystrup municipality — a designation that refers to a historical division known in many North German rifle clubs. Farmers' riflemen and citizens' riflemen were originally separate groups, which are now mostly united in a common club, preserving their old identity in the name.
The venue is the Eystrup Schützenhaus at Schützenstraße 14 — its own club grounds with shooting ranges, a clubhouse, and a large outdoor area where the eponymous festival tent is erected every year.
The designation 'Zeltschützenfest' refers to the large festival tent erected specifically for the annual festival. Unlike Schützenfeste held in permanently installed halls or clubhouses, the tent has its own festive atmosphere: beer benches, long tables, a festival stage, an open catering area, and the typical tent acoustics that create a special mood effect.
The date for 2026 will be announced by the club in advance. Following the tradition of previous years (2014: June 27–29), a date on the last weekend of June is expected. Current information is available on the club website sv-eystrup.de.
