About Paulus-Schützenfest Emstek

The Paulus-Schützenfest Emstek is the traditional Pentecost Schützenfest of the Sankt-Paulus-Schützenbruderschaft Emstek and will take place in 2026 from Friday, May 22 to Pentecost Sunday, May 24, at the Sportallee. A special feature: The festival has been shortened to two days in 2026 (compared to the traditional Pentecost Friday format). The opening on Friday evening will feature a concert by the Big Band Bösel — an established element of the festival week that has musically introduced the Schützenfest for years. Saturday will focus on the King's Ball and King's Dinner, while Pentecost Sunday will feature the festival service, parade, and children's Schützenfest. The festival is considered a social highlight of the municipality of Emstek during the Pentecost weekend.

St.-Paulus-Schützenbruderschaft Emstek

The Sankt-Paulus-Schützenbruderschaft Emstek is the main carrier of Schützen traditions in the municipality of Emstek in the southern district of Cloppenburg. The patron saint Paul refers to the Catholic-influenced tradition of the Schützenbruderschaften (marksmen's brotherhoods) of the Oldenburg Münsterland region. The Pentecost Schützenfest is the annual highlight of the club's year.

Big Band Opening with the Big Band Bösel

A special feature of the Emstek Schützenfest is the Big Band concert to kick off the festivities on Friday evening. The Big Band Bösel — one of the region's best-known big bands — traditionally plays to open the festival week. The festival thus combines classic Schützen traditions with high-quality live music, appealing to a broad audience.

Unlike in previous years, the Pentecost Schützenfest in 2026 has been shortened to two days (Saturday, May 23 and Pentecost Sunday, May 24, with the opening on Friday, May 22). The focus will be on the King's Ball, the children's Schützenfest, and the traditional service on Pentecost Sunday.
