Three-day marksmen's festival in the municipality of Hanstedt on the edge of the Lüneburger Heide
Egestorf is located in the municipality of Hanstedt, directly within the Lüneburger Heide Nature Park, and is known as a typical heathland village. The Egestorf and surrounding area marksmen's club (Schützenverein Egestorf und Umgegend e.V.) has been cultivating the annual marksmen's festival for decades, which is firmly integrated into village and club life.
Saturday to Monday form the framework of the festival. Saturday opens with the King's Shoot and the first evening dance, Sunday features the Grand Tattoo (Großer Zapfenstreich), the parade, and the King's Ball, while Monday concludes with a morning pint (Frühschoppen), Family Day, and the proclamation of the new King.
The highlight of the club's year is the competition for the royal title. The King's Shoot on Saturday determines the new majesties. The parade on Sunday leads the marksmen, the pipe bands, and the invited neighboring clubs through Egestorf, past decorated houses and festive residents.
The Grand Tattoo (Großer Zapfenstreich) on Sunday evening is one of the emotional highlights – torchbearers, a pipe band, and traditional music create a ceremonial atmosphere that brings together the marksmen's community and the village community in a special way.
The festival tent on the shooting range (Schützenplatz) is the center of the evening events, with live bands and dancing. Family Day on Monday offers a children's King's Shoot, carousels, a bouncy castle, and games. The scenic setting in the Lüneburger Heide lends the Egestorf marksmen's festival a special charm.
The 2026 edition continues Egestorf's tradition of marksmen's festivals. Its location in the Lüneburger Heide Nature Park provides a special natural setting for the marksmen's festival, combining North German club customs with the unique heathland scenery.
Egestorf is easily accessible via the A7 motorway and is also a popular starting point for hikes and heathland tours.
