Schützenfest of the Bützfleth Marksmen's Association of 1959 e.V. with participation in the Stade City King Shooting
The Bützfleth Marksmen's Association was founded in 1959, thus continuing the tradition of post-war foundations that revitalized club life in Lower Saxony in the 1950s. With over 65 years of club history, it is an established part of the Bützfleth community and anchored in the Stade Marksmen's Association.
Bützfleth is located north of the Stade city center, directly on the Elbe River. With its location on the water and its village atmosphere, the district maintains its own profile within the Hanseatic city of Stade. Bützfleth is also characterized by industry — the Stade industrial port with aluminum and steel production is located here — thus combining tradition and modern economy in a distinctive way.
A special feature of the Bützfleth Marksmen's Association is its membership in the City King Shooting Association with other Stade marksmen's associations. In this joint event, a marksman from the participating clubs is chosen as the "Stade City King". This makes the Bützfleth Schützenfest part of an overarching urban marksmen's tradition.
In previous years, the Bützfleth Schützenfest has always taken place in mid-August. In 2025, the festival days were held from August 15-17. For 2026, the exact date will be confirmed by the association in spring. The August festival falls during the peak season of North German Schützenfest culture, when numerous clubs celebrate their festivals.
The Schützenfest follows the established tradition: bird shooting / king shooting to determine the new majesties, proclamation of the king with the handover of royal dignity, a festive parade through Bützfleth accompanied by marching bands and friendly clubs, dance evenings with live music in the festival tent, and a family day with a children's king shooting and child-friendly activities.
The festival weekend fits into the peak season of North German Schützenfeste in August.
The exact date and detailed program will be published by the association.
