Bolsehle — District of Husum

Bolsehle is a district of the municipality of Husum in the Nienburg/Weser district. Important: This municipality of Husum is not to be confused with the well-known North German city of Husum in Schleswig-Holstein — it is a separate, smaller municipality on the Mittelweser, belonging to the Samtgemeinde Mittelweser. Bolsehle and its neighboring districts form a closely connected rural community.

Schützenverein Bolsehle e.V.

Matjesessen as a Special Feature

A culinary specialty of the Bolsehle Schützenfest is the traditional Matjesessen. Matjes — young, mildly pickled herring — are a classic of North German cuisine, which has particular significance in the Mittelweser region during the summer. As part of the Schützenfest, the Matjesessen is served as a convivial communal meal — often with boiled potatoes, onions, fresh beans, and a clear schnapps. This tradition underscores the region's close connection to fishing and North German culinary culture.

Live Band with TOP-40 Repertoire

Musically, a Live Band with TOP-40 Repertoire provides the entertainment for the dance evening. TOP-40 bands play current chart hits and timeless classics, which can appeal to a wide age group and get people dancing. This modernization of the classic Schützenball concept makes the Bolsehle festival particularly attractive to younger club members.

Mid-June Date Tradition

The 2026 date will be announced by the club in advance. Following the tradition of previous years (2024: June 15th), a date on the third weekend of June is expected.
