Schützenfest Bokeloh — Tradition in the Summer
Bokeloh, one of the districts of the town of Wunstorf in the western surroundings of Hanover, is one of the seven Wunstorf localities that will celebrate its own Schützenfest in 2026. The Bokeloh Rifle Association organizes the three-day festival in July — embedded in the dense schedule of Wunstorf's Schützenfeste, which are spread across the entire town area from April to September.
Three Days of Festival
The festival sequence follows the classic dramaturgy of a Lower Saxony Schützenfest. Friday evening marks the festive start with the opening, a gathering, and the first dance evening. Saturday is dedicated to the King's shooting, receptions, and a grand dance evening. Sunday concludes with a festive church service, a festive parade, the crowning of the new majesties, and the King's ball. Throughout all three days, the festival tent, amusement rides, and food stalls characterize the scene on the festival grounds.
Bokeloh as a Festival Location
As a small district of Wunstorf, Bokeloh has an independent village character, expressed in its active club life. Besides the Rifle Association, the fire department, sports clubs, and cultural groups shape village life. The Schützenfest is one of the most important occasions for the village community to come together — families, former residents, friendly clubs, and guests from the region. The voluntary work of the club members, friendly organizations, and numerous helpers sustains the festival.
Embedded in the Wunstorf Schützen Calendar
The Bokeloh Schützenfest follows the Schützenfest Kolenfeld (June) and precedes the other Wunstorf festivals in August and September. This dense sequence makes the Wunstorf Schützen calendar one of the most intensive in the Hanover region and offers shooting enthusiasts numerous opportunities to visit clubs and festivals throughout the year.
