About Schützenfest Bösel

The Schützenfest Bösel is the social highlight of the summer in the municipality of Bösel and the main festival of the Bösel Civil Marksmen's Association (BSV Bösel). Every year in July, the Bösel marksmen's grounds are transformed for three days into a meeting point for marksmen's families, friendly clubs, and the entire village community. The King's Shoot, proclamation, parade, dance evening, and family day form the framework of a classic North German Schützenfest. In 2025, Alexandra Jöring was crowned the new Marksmen's Queen; the King's Shoot for 2026 is already announced for July 5th, with the festival itself following from July 18th to 20th, 2026.

Marksmen's Traditions in the Municipality of Bösel

The Bösel Civil Marksmen's Association (BSV Bösel) is one of the central associations in the municipality of Bösel, located in the north of the Cloppenburg district. The BSV's main festival is considered the social highlight of the association's year and attracts numerous guests from the region every year. Schützenfeste are deeply rooted in the Oldenburg Münsterland region – they combine tradition, religious customs, club life, and a sense of village community into a multi-day folk festival (Volksfest).

From the King's Shoot to the Parade

The festival follows the classic sequence of North German Schützenfeste: King's Shoot before the actual festival, collection of the King, festive church service, parade with a marching band and club banners through the town centre, King's dinner, proclamation and crowning of the new royal court, and dance evenings in the festival tent. In addition, there is a Children's King's Shoot, cup competitions, and the traditional Frühschoppen (morning pint).

Marksmen's Queen 2025: Alexandra Jöring

In 2025, Alexandra Jöring was crowned the new Marksmen's Queen – a highlight in the recent history of the association. She will lead the royal court until the proclamation of the new royal couple in 2026.

Date 2026

The King's Shoot will take place on Sunday, July 5th, 2026. The actual Schützenfest follows from Saturday, July 18th, to Monday, July 20th, 2026, at the Bösel Schützenplatz. Current information and the detailed program can be found at bsv-boesel.de.
