Schützenfest in the Bergen District
The village of Bleckmar is a district of the town of Bergen in the southern Celle district (Lüneburger Heide). Like many villages in the region, Bleckmar maintains its own Schützenfest with a long tradition. It is one of the most important events of the year and unites generations.
Four Days of Events
The Schützenfest runs from Thursday to Sunday around the first of May. The classic program points:
- Parade through the village with marksmen, marching band, and fanfare band
- King's shooting and king's proclamation
- Festival tent with catering, music, and dancing
- Children's shooting festival with its own children's program
- Morning pint on Sunday
- Grand Zapfenstreich (final ceremony) to conclude
- Accompanying snacks, catering, and small amusement rides
Community at the Core
The Bleckmar Schützenfest is less a large tourist event and more a village identity festival. Those who want to experience the authentic club life of the Lüneburger Heide are welcome here.
