Behringen in the Municipality of Bispingen

Behringen is one of the hamlets of the municipality of Bispingen in the Heidekreis district. While Bispingen itself is known regionally for SnowWorld, Wildpark Lüneburger Heide, and its tourist infrastructure, Behringen has retained its rural, village character. The small village is located in the middle of the heath landscape and is surrounded by meadows, forests, and heathland.

Behringen Marksmen's Club

The Behringen Marksmen's Club is the central institution of village life. As in many heath villages, the marksmen's club is not only a sporting and traditional club but also a social meeting point that shapes village life throughout the year. The annual Schützenfest is the highlight of the club's year.

Festival Weekend around Pentecost

The Schützenfest in Behringen traditionally takes place around Pentecost – a date that is favorable in terms of weather and marks the start of the summer festival season. The program follows the proven structure: King's Shoot on the preceding day, festival parade on Saturday, King's Proclamation and King's Ball on Saturday evening, and Family Day on Sunday.

Festival Parade

The festival parade on Saturday afternoon leads through the village center of Behringen. Marksmen's companies in uniform, friendly clubs from Bispingen's districts, fife and drum corps, and music bands march from the festival grounds through the village.

King's Ball and Family Day

On Saturday evening, the King's Ball is celebrated in the festival tent. The new marksmen's king is proclaimed, honored, and awarded the King's Chain. Sunday is Family Day with carousels, games, and a relaxed morning pint (Frühschoppen) in the festival tent.
