The Schützenfest Becklingen is part of the dense landscape of marksmen's festivals in the Celle district. The district of the same name in the municipality of Bergen, located on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath, celebrates its club festival every year in early summer. Numerous marksmen's festivals follow one another over the Whitsun and May holidays in the region — Becklingen marks one of the first dates of the season with the weekend of May 14th to 17th, 2026.

As in almost all heathland villages, the Schützenverein is more than just a sports club: it is a social institution, the organizer of the most important village event of the year, and the custodian of a tradition that dates back to the 19th century or even further in many Lower Saxony towns. Multi-day marksmen's festivals in the region follow a proven dramaturgy: dance evening or tent party on Friday, king's shoot and festival ball on Saturday, festival parade and morning pint on Sunday. In Becklingen, the festival in 2026 is extended over four days, with a king's dinner and a cozy conclusion on Monday.
