Traditional Schützenfest and Bürgerfest of the district town Bad Fallingbostel with parade and King's Ball
Bad Fallingbostel is the district capital of the Heidekreis and is centrally located in the Lüneburg Heath. With about 12,000 inhabitants and a historic town center, the town is an important administrative and supply center for the region. The annual Schützen- und Bürgerfest is one of the social highlights of the summer calendar.
The KSV Fallingbostel is the umbrella organization of the shooting clubs in the Heidekreis. It not only organizes its own Schützenfest but also supports the events of its member clubs in the surrounding communities. Shooting competitions, king's shooting, and club championships are part of club life throughout the year.
The Bad Fallingbostel Schützenfest is closely linked to the city's Bürgerfest. This makes it a meeting point not only for club members but for the entire city population. A parade through the city center, the proclamation of the king on the festival grounds, the King's Ball in the evening, and a family day on Sunday form the classic framework of the festival.
The parade on Saturday afternoon leads through the Bad Fallingbostel city center. Shooting companies, friendly clubs, marching bands, music bands, and floats march from the Schützenplatz through the city. Thousands of spectators line the streets and celebrate along.
On Saturday evening, the King's Ball is celebrated in the festival tent. The new shooting king is proclaimed, decorated with the king's chain, and honored together with the queen and adjutants. Live music until late at night.
Bad Fallingbostel, with its spa facilities and central location in the Lüneburg Heath, is also important for tourism. The Schützenfest benefits from the tourist influx and integrates Lüneburg Heath holidaymakers into the festival events.
The festival weekend shapes the social life of Bad Fallingbostel for several days. The close integration of the Schützenfest and Bürgerfest makes it an occasion that involves the entire city population.
