St. Sebastianus Bruderschaft Anrath — Tradition since 1463
The St. Sebastianus Bruderschaft of 1463 Anrath e.V., with its over 560-year history, is one of the most traditional shooting fraternities in North Rhine-Westphalia. It holds a firm place in the Rhenish shooting tradition, which is deeply rooted in the region between the Lower Rhine and the Bergisches Land. The annual late-summer Schützenfest is one of the central identity-defining events in Anrath's local life.
Season Finale in the Town of Willich
The town of Willich, with its districts Anrath, Neersen, Schiefbahn, and Willich-Mitte, is a stronghold of Lower Rhine shooting culture. Several fraternities — including the St. Sebastianus Bruderschaft Anrath, the Schützengilde Klein-Jerusalem Anrath, and the St. Sebastianus Bruderschaft Neersen — celebrate their festivals every year. The Schützenfest Anrath is traditionally the last Schützenfest of the season in the town of Willich, thus concluding the shooting summer with dignity.
Four Days of Events — from King's Shoot to Parade
The format follows the classic Lower Rhine Schützenfest dramaturgy: Day 1 (Sunday, August 30): King's Shoot (Vogelschießen) and festival ceremony with guest clubs. Day 2 (Monday, August 31): Proclamation of the King and King's Ball. Day 3 (Tuesday, September 1): Family Day with children's program. Day 4 (Wednesday, September 2): Grand Parade through Anrath with all companies and friendly shooting fraternities.
