SV St. Hubertus Andervenne

The Schützenverein St. Hubertus Andervenne is one of the shooting clubs in the Samtgemeinde Freren. It bears the name of Saint Hubertus, one of the most popular patron saints of hunters and marksmen — devotion to St. Hubertus is a fundamental part of shooting traditions in the predominantly Catholic southern Emsland.

Ascension Day Weekend

The festival traditionally takes place on the Ascension Day weekend — in 2026, this means Thursday, May 14th, and Friday, May 15th. With the public holiday on Thursday, the extended weekend provides a good framework for a two-day Schützenfest that concentrates the most important program points.

Current King and Queen Klaus and Irmi Gerdes

The current reigning king and queen — Klaus and Irmi Gerdes — represent the club throughout the current club year and will pass on their title to the new king and queen at the 2026 shoot. This handover is a central emotional moment of the Schützenfest and is followed by the entire village community.

Classic Festival Schedule

• Thursday 14.05. (Ascension Day): Festival kickoff with collecting the king, march to the festival grounds, opening evening
• Friday 15.05.: Festive church service, bird shoot, king's dinner, parade, proclamation of the king, dance evening

Andervenne Village Community

Andervenne is a small, rural municipality where village life is still very much present. The Schützenverein is one of the central pillars of this village life, and the Schützenfest is one of the most important social events of the year.
