Schützenfest Ahrensdorf — Season Opener in the North District

In 2026, the Schützenfest Ahrensdorf will be the first Schützenfest in the Friesoythe municipal area. It thus opens the Schützenfest season in the northern district of Cloppenburg — and sets the tone for the coming months with numerous other festivals in the districts of Gehlenberg, Markhausen, Thüle, Altenoythe, Neuscharrel, Kampe/Ikenbrügge, Edewechterdamm, Neuvrees, and of course the grand Friesoythe main Schützenfest at the beginning of August.

Friesoythe District with Marksmen Tradition

Ahrensdorf is one of the districts of the town of Friesoythe. Like many rural communities in West Oldenburg, Ahrensdorf has its own Schützenverein (marksmen's club), which is the backbone of social life in the village and organizes the annual festival. With the date of May 8th and 9th, 2026, the club kicks off the Schützenfest season.

The 2026 program mixes classic marksmen's elements with contemporary party formats that appeal particularly to the younger generation:
