Rifle Tradition in the Village of Adelebsen
The Schützenfest Adelebsen is organized by the 1st Company of the Schützenverein Adelebsen. The village of Adelebsen, a municipality in the western district of Göttingen, maintains a long rifle tradition, reflected in the existence of several companies within the association. The 1st Company is the largest and most traditional of the companies and hosts the annual main Schützenfest.
Festival Grounds on Bogenstraße
The venue for the festival is the festival grounds on Bogenstraße. Here, the large festival tent is erected, the shooting range is prepared, and the fairground with carousels, candy stalls, and shooting booths is set up. Its location on the outskirts allows for ample parking and extensive festival tent operations.
Bird Shooting and King Proclamation
The centerpiece of the Schützenfest is the bird shooting (Vogelschießen), where new titles are awarded – King of the Marksmen, Queen of the Marksmen, and Youth King. The ceremonial proclamation of the king is a highlight for club members and the village community.
Parade and Dance Evenings
The parade of the rifle companies through Adelebsen gathers the companies in uniform, brass bands, club flags, and friendly rifle clubs. The dance evenings in the festival tent are accompanied by live bands or dance orchestras and run from 3 PM to 11:30 PM.
Family Day and Morning Pint
The Family Day is aimed at children and families with children's shooting contests, games, and child-friendly food. The traditional morning pint (Frühschoppen) with brass music marks the conclusion of the festival weekend, bringing the community together again for a convivial gathering.
