Summer festival in the historic Lennépark by the Old Castle
Baruth/Mark is located in the Teltow-Fläming district, in southern Brandenburg, on the border with Spreewald and Niederlausitz. With around 4,500 inhabitants, Baruth is a small town with a rich history: the Old Castle (site of the current festival), the Reformation town church, the old glassworks (now an artisan site), and the historic old town shape the cityscape. The castle complex belonged to the Counts of Solms-Baruth, who had the present-day castle expanded in the 17th century.
The Lennépark Baruth was laid out in the 19th century according to plans by Peter Joseph Lenné (1789-1866) — Prussia's most important landscape architect, who designed, among others, Sanssouci Park in Potsdam, Tiergarten in Berlin, and Babelsberg Park. Lenné's Baruth park is a rather unknown gem of his work, and the Schlossparkfest offers a rare opportunity to experience it in full summer splendor.
The Schlossparkfest 2026 will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, starting at 2 PM. The organizer is the town of Baruth/Mark. Detailed program information will be published in May/June 2026 on the municipal website. Traditionally, the festival combines historic park atmosphere with live music, market and hands-on stalls, catering, and a family program. The idyllic park offers ample shade for summer stays.
Those visiting Baruth/Mark for the Schlossparkfest can combine the day with further excursions: the Baruth Glassworks with artisan workshops, the Johannismühle Wildlife Park (wolves, bears, schnapps distillery), the Niederer Fläming Nature Park, or a visit to Zinna Monastery (16 km north). Baruth is accessible from Berlin in 1 hour and 20 minutes via the RB22 train. Restaurants and cafés in the historic old town, as well as the Schlossrestaurant, offer refreshments in a historic ambiance — and for the culinarily interested, a visit to the Schlossbier brewery, a revived brewing tradition from the 17th century, is worthwhile.
