Schlager Festival in Duderstadt City Park
With the Schlager Festival, the city of Duderstadt traditionally opens its Culture Summer in the expansive city park Auf dem Graben. The event combines a professionally equipped open-air stage with the green ambiance of one of the most beautiful parks in southern Lower Saxony and brings together around four hours of concentrated live programming annually. The organizer is the Duderstadt Culture Summer initiative in cooperation with the guest information center and local partners.
Schlager in the Heart of the Eichsfeld
Duderstadt is located in the Lower Eichsfeld, not far from the former inner-German border, and is regionally known as a half-timbered town with over 600 historic houses. The Schlager Festival uses this tourist appeal to attract guests from the entire Göttingen district, the North Hessian Werra-Meißner district, and the Thuringian Eichsfeld district. Programmatically, the series bundles German Schlager, Pop-Schlager, and TV-known acts with high recognition value.
Format and Schedule
Admission begins in the afternoon, the DJ warm-up provides the musical prelude, before the three to four invited main acts perform in compact sets of 30 to 60 minutes. The stage is equipped with professional lighting and sound technology, including several catering and drink stands, seating areas, and a separate standing area in front of the stage. The event grounds in the city park are accessible with low barriers.
Eichsfeld Tradition and Culture Summer
The Schlager Festival marks the official start of the Culture Summer season in Duderstadt, which extends over the months of May to September and covers other genres such as Country, 70s Schlager, and Crossover Classics. It thus fits into a broad open-air program series that is largely supported by the voluntary commitment of local clubs and patrons.
