Schalksmühle sommerlich — The Series

The event series Schalksmühle sommerlich was launched in 2024 by Stadtmarketing Schalksmühle e.V. and consists of four summer events. On September 5, 2026, the Summerbeats & Sundowner Live evening will be one of the central dates — a double event at the Bahnhofstraße square in the town center.

Summerbeats — DJ Set for Teenagers

Starting at 4:00 PM, the Summerbeats block for teenagers and young adults begins: DJs will play chart hits, classics, and summer songs, turning the Bahnhofstraße square into an open-air dance floor. The concept targets the 14–25 age group — a chill outdoor dance evening with no admission fee.

Sundowner Live — For All Generations

Starting at 7:00 PM, the program switches to Sundowner Live: Live lounge-style music for all generations, in a relaxed summer evening atmosphere. The open-air event combines dancing and lingering — perfect for winding down the day. Program until approx. 12:00 AM.

Stadtmarketing Schalksmühle e.V.

Stadtmarketing Schalksmühle e.V., an association of local businesses and engaged citizens, is behind the event series. The goal is to revitalize the town center through events that appeal across generations and make the small downtown squares attractive again for the public.

Schalksmühle — Small Town in the Sauerland

With just under 11,000 inhabitants, Schalksmühle (a municipality within the Märkischer Kreis district, North Rhine-Westphalia) is one of the smaller communities in the Sauerland region — located between Hagen, Lüdenscheid, and Halver. Characterized by the metal and electrical industries, Schalksmühle is a typical Westphalian industrial small town. Events like the Summerbeats evening help to perceive the townscape as a place to live, not just a place to work.

Bahnhofstraße Square — Stage in the Center

The Bahnhofstraße square is one of the central open spaces in Schalksmühle. Located directly at the public transport hub, it's ideal for open-air events. A stage, bar stands, and seating will be set up for the Summerbeats evening.
