Rhineland-Palatinate Carnival Parade on Shrove Tuesday in the Wörth district
Schaidt is located on the western edge of the large Bienwald forest and belongs to the town of Wörth am Rhein. Like many communities in Rhineland-Palatinate, Schaidt cultivates its own distinct carnival tradition with club evenings, gala sessions, and the central highlight on Shrove Tuesday: the carnival parade. The Rhineland-Palatinate carnival has its own customs, its own calls, and its own float traditions, which differ from the well-known Rhenish variant.
Shrove Tuesday is the central carnival day in many communities in Rhineland-Palatinate, often celebrated more prominently than Rose Monday or Women's Carnival Day in the Rhenish tradition. The Schaidt parade starts at 2:11 PM (the classic carnival time – eleven minutes past the hour) in the town center. Dance troupes in colorful uniforms, float groups often addressing political or local themes, music bands, and countless masked participants parade through the town.
The Schaidt carnival clubs organize the parade on a voluntary basis. The audience is showered with candies, small gifts, and chocolate; costumed children along the roadside are a central part of the scene. After the parade, club evenings continue in local pubs.
Schaidt is one of four districts of the town of Wörth am Rhein, alongside Maximiliansau, Büchelberg, and the core town of Wörth. Each of these localities hosts its own carnival events, making Wörth one of the most carnival-strong municipal areas in southern Rhineland-Palatinate. The Schaidt parade on Shrove Tuesday, along with the revived Maximiliansau parade, is one of the key dates.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizing carnival clubs in the winter. The date (Shrove Tuesday, 2:11 PM) is confirmed by Pfalz-Express.
