About Schängelschiff

The Schängelschiff is one of Germany's most unusual Carnival events: the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Koblenzer Karneval (AKK) organizes Carnival ship trips on the Rhine and Moselle over several evenings in January. On the decorated passenger ships, the hall is transformed into a floating Carnival palace with live music, DJ sets, dance groups, and the typical local Carnival atmosphere. The 2026 series kicks off with the themed evening 'Carnival on the Rhine and Moselle' on January 20th and continues with three more dates until January 24th. Featuring: DJ Jay Pee, the dance groups KG Grün-Weiß Urmitz and Black and White Löf, and the live band Kabelbrand from Lahnstein.

The Schängelschiff is a trademark of the AKK and utilizes Koblenz's unique location at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. Instead of a classic ballroom event, the Carnival party takes place on a passenger ship that cruises the Rhine and Moselle during the event.

Concept

The Carnival ships are fully decorated and offer all the amenities of a Carnival party: dance floor, stage, several bars, seating areas, and a covered outdoor space. The program alternates between DJ sets, live performances by dance groups, and concerts by well-known Carnival bands.

Dates 2026

The 2026 series includes four Schängelschiff evenings:

  • January 20: Themed evening 'Carnival on the Rhine and Moselle' — exclusively Carnival music.
  • January 21: Mix evening with Carnival and party music.
  • January 23: Additional Carnival evening.
  • January 24: Additional Carnival evening to kick off the weekend.

Artists

Featuring DJ Jay Pee, the established dance group KG Grün-Weiß Urmitz, the dance group Black and White Löf, and the well-known live band Kabelbrand from Lahnstein, the 2026 program offers an attractive mix of DJ sets and live acts.
