4th edition of the Nahe enjoyment weekend – wineries open their doors
The Nahe wine-growing region lies between Rheinhessen and the Mosel and, with around 4,200 hectares of vineyards, is one of Germany's medium-sized wine-growing regions. The diversity of soils, from slate and porphyry to sandstone, creates an unusual range of wine types. The Rieslings from the Nahe, in particular, enjoy international renown, complemented by the region's Spätburgunder and other specialties.
The Saisonauftakt spans four days, utilizing the long weekend for a packed program. Those who wish can use Thursday and Friday to visit a first winery, but the full program is best experienced on Saturday and Sunday. The spatial distribution of the wineries across the entire growing region makes some planning advisable.
Bad Kreuznach with its districts Kornmarkt, Winzenheim, and Bosenheim, Langenlonsheim, Sommerloch, Niederhausen, Bretzenheim, Waldböckelheim, Gutenberg, and numerous other villages are participating. The exact lists of participants can be found on the official website of Weinland Nahe.
The special feature of the Saisonauftakt: each winery designs its own program. Some offer cellar tours with tastings, others invite guests for brunch in their courtyard, while others organize concerts or combine wine tasting with regional cuisine. The diversity of programs reflects the individual identity of the wineries.
The concept of the Saisonauftakt: Instead of a central festival, a decentralized enjoyment weekend where visitors decide for themselves which wineries they want to visit. The individual design of each winery creates variety and allows visitors to experience the diversity of the Nahe in one weekend.
The complete programs of the individual wineries can be found on the official website www.weinland-nahe.de. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
Wineries throughout the Nahe wine-growing region, with focal points in Bad Kreuznach (Kornmarkt, Winzenheim, Bosenheim), Langenlonsheim, Sommerloch, Niederhausen, Bretzenheim, Waldböckelheim, Gutenberg, and other locations.
Admission to most programs is free. Some special offers (brunch, concerts with food) may be subject to a charge.
The individual programs of the participating wineries can be found on the official website www.weinland-nahe.de.
Due to the spatial distribution of the wineries, having your own vehicle or organizing a carpool is recommended. As wine will be tasted, ordering a taxi or staying overnight in the region is advisable.
Informing yourself about the individual programs in advance will help with planning your day.
