The guided run across (almost) all bridges of the Saarland state capital
In June, the Laufgemeinschaft Saarbrücken (LAG) transforms the state capital into a giant, friendly obstacle course. Under the motto 'Saarbrücken runs across bridges,' the saarBRÜCKENlauf leads participants through the city center, repeatedly down to the Saar and back up again – over railway bridges, pedestrian walkways, old city bridges, and new traffic arteries. Those who participate get to see the Regionalverband Saarbrücken from a perspective that even locals rarely experience.
The run is offered in two versions:
It's not about personal bests: The groups are guided at a moderate pace and stay together, as the constant change between asphalt, ramps, and steps requires attention. There is deliberately no timing – the saarBRÜCKENlauf is a sports event, city tour, and club festival all in one.
The meeting point is the Kulturbiergarten in Kosmannstraße, directly opposite the striking Römerbrücke power plant. After the run, there will be food, drinks, and a relaxed get-together against the industrial silhouette of the former power station. This fits the character of the event: urban, casual, and with a clear Saar connection.
The saarBRÜCKENlauf has been organized by LAG Saarbrücken since 2018 and is now a firm fixture in the running calendar of Saarland. 2026 will see the 8th edition. Participation is free; voluntary donations for the club's activities are welcome.
On Sunday, June 14, 2026, LAG Saarbrücken invites you to the 8th edition of the saarBRÜCKENlauf. As usual, two distances are available: the 10 km route over 7 bridges (Size M) and the 20 km variant over 17 bridges (Size L). Both groups start at 10:00 AM at the Kulturbiergarten in Kosmannstraße.
The run is not a competition: it is run at a moderate pace, the groups stay together, and there is no timing. If you're looking to set personal bests, this isn't the place. If you want to experience Saarbrücken completely from the water's edge – over steel beams, pedestrian walkways, railway overpasses, and back – then this is exactly right for you.
The exact route profile and final bridge selection will be published shortly before the run on saarbrueckenlauf.de.
Participation is free. Donations to support the club activities of LAG Saarbrücken are welcome.
The Kulturbiergarten at the Römerbrücke power plant is centrally located on the banks of the Saar. Reachable in about 15 minutes on foot from Saarbrücken main station. Several Saarbahn bus lines stop nearby (Römerbrücke stop).
Parking in the city center is limited – we recommend arriving by public transport or bicycle. Parking garages at the main station or the castle are within walking distance.
Registration is online via saarbrueckenlauf.de. Participation is free; donations for the club's activities are welcome. Due to limited group sizes: register in time!
Bring a water bottle, running shoes with good grip (due to stairs and ramps), and weather-appropriate clothing. Refreshments will be available at the start and finish points.
