Start of the Southern Palatinate Festival Season

The Rülzheim Spring Festival is one of the first major Volksfeste (popular festivals) in the Southern Palatinate festival season. After winter and Carnival events, it marks the true beginning of the summer and festival season: amusement rides are set up, festival tents stand under the open sky, and outdoor festival life returns. This opening function makes the festival a particularly well-attended event in the region's festival calendar.

Festival Grounds and Tent

The Rülzheim festival grounds offer ample space for a festival tent, a fairground with amusement rides, and club stands. The compact layout allows for short distances between attractions, making it easy for families with children to explore the festival on foot. Bumper cars, a children's carousel, a shooting gallery, and candy stalls are the classic fairground attractions, supplemented by potential specialities like a Ferris wheel or a chain carousel.

Club Life and Palatinate Delights

The Rülzheim clubs – sports club, fire department, music club, Carnival society, church community – manage the festival catering. Palatinate specialties such as Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Bratwurst, Flammkuchen (a thin tart), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), and Sauerkraut, along with Palatinate wine from local vintners, draft beer, and Schorle (wine mixed with sparkling water), form the gastronomic offerings.

Rülzheim as a Large Municipality in Southern Palatinate

With around 8,000 inhabitants, Rülzheim is one of the larger municipalities in the Germersheim district and the seat of the collective municipality of the same name. The municipality is located between Germersheim and Kandel and is easily accessible via the B9 federal highway and the A65 motorway. The Spring Festival, along with the Summer Festival, is one of the central festival dates in Rülzheim's calendar.
