About Rosenmontagszug Gladbach

The Rosenmontagszug in Neuwied-Gladbach is the carnival parade of the Gladbach district on Rose Monday, February 16, 2026. As in most Rhenish carnival strongholds, the parade starts punctually at 2:11 PM – a traditional "foolish" time. Clubs, dance groups, music bands, and floats from Gladbach and friendly carnival groups march through the streets of the district. From 4 PM, the participants continue the celebration in the Festhalle Gladbach: After-Zoch-Party with music, dancing, and refreshments – a classic Rhenish carnival format in a district setting.

Gladbach — A Carnival District in Northern Neuwied

The district of Gladbach in northern Neuwied has largely retained its village identity since its incorporation into the larger city. Carnival is celebrated in Gladbach with its own local flair: smaller carnival clubs, schools, and families drive the event, and the Rosenmontagszug is the highlight of the "fifth season" in the district.

The Parade

The parade starts at 2:11 PM and winds its way through the main streets of Gladbach. Participants include the local carnival society, school groups, sports clubs, and music bands, as well as friendly carnival groups from neighboring towns and the adjacent Westerwald region. Thrown items — Kamellen (sweets), Strüsje (small gifts) — are traditionally distributed to the street audience.

After-Zoch-Party in the Festhalle

Following the parade, from 4 PM onwards, the celebration moves to the Festhalle Gladbach. The After-Zoch-Party combines live music or a DJ, a dance floor, refreshments, and the convivial gathering of carnival-goers and parade visitors. An event that strengthens the sense of community in the district and is primarily supported by the local residents.

Families and Atmosphere

The district parade is more family-friendly and manageable than the large city center parade of Neuwied. Parents with small children can experience the parade more relaxed, the distances are short, and the convivial atmosphere in the streets of Gladbach is distinctly different from the mass events in the major carnival strongholds.

Rosenmontagszug Gladbach — edition 2026

Afterwards, the day concludes with the After-Zoch-Party in the Festhalle Gladbach (from 4 PM).
