Grand Carnival Parade of the Kylltalnarren Jünkerath e.V. on Rose Monday, February 16, 2026, starting at 2:33 PM through the town center of Jünkerath in the Vulkaneifel.
The Rosenmontagszug of the Kylltalnarren Jünkerath e.V. has been the major carnival event in the north of the Vulkaneifel for decades. With the traditional assembly time of 2:33 PM – the carnival number 11 times 11 plus 22 as a jester's code – the parade sets a clear sign of Rhenish Fastnacht (carnival) tradition in the Eifel region.
Jünkerath is located in the picturesque Kylltal valley between Stadtkyll and Lissendorf and belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Obere Kyll in the Vulkaneifel district. The Kylltalnarren have shaped the club life of the municipality since their founding and, together with the carnival clubs from Gerolstein, Hillesheim, and Stadtkyll, form the jester's backbone of the northern Vulkaneifel.
The parade forms up in the early afternoon and proceeds through the main streets of Jünkerath. Participants include floats from local clubs, music bands, walking groups from neighbouring towns, dance troupes, and of course the council of eleven (Elferrat) and the prince and princess couple of the season. Sweets, confetti (Strüsjer), and small throwing items are distributed to the audience – a classic image of Rhenish-influenced Fastnacht in the Eifel.
Clubs, groups, and walking groups wishing to participate in the parade must register in advance via the Kylltalnarren website (kylltalnarren.de). The organizers compile the parade order, coordinate assembly points, and ensure compliance with official regulations.
After the parade, participants and spectators gather in the surrounding pubs, clubhouses, and marquees in Jünkerath. The atmosphere is familiar and warm, far from the mass hustle and bustle of the major carnival strongholds on the Rhine, but with an unmistakable Rhenish Fastnacht spirit.
The 25/26 carnival season traditionally culminates in Jünkerath with the grand Rosenmontagszug of the Kylltalnarren. With the distinctive start time of 2:33 PM, the jesters make their symbolic statement. Colourful floats, costumed walking groups, and music bands from the entire Verbandsgemeinde Obere Kyll characterize the parade.
The final parade order and assembly points will be announced shortly before the event by the Kylltalnarren via kylltalnarren.de and the local press.
