Grand Rose Monday Parade of the Hillesheim Carnival Club 1951 e.V. on February 16, 2026, assembly 2:11 PM in Dolgesheimer Straße in the Vulkaneifel.
The Rosenmontagsumzug Hillesheim is the largest Carnival event in the north of the Vulkaneifel district. The Hillesheim Carnival Club 1951 e.V., HKV for short, has shaped the carnival scene in the town for over seven decades and organizes the parade with the support of numerous friendly clubs from the region.
Hillesheim, located on the Kyll river and the historic Limes route, is considered one of the most traditional Carnival strongholds in the Eifel. The Hillesheim Carnival Club 1951 e.V. was founded the year after the town's jubilee celebration in 1950 and celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2026. The session program and event dates are communicated via the websites hillesheimer-karnevalsverein.de and karneval-hillesheim.de.
Assembly begins at 2:11 PM in Dolgesheimer Straße. From there, the parade moves through the town center – past the market square with its baroque fountain and the historic town wall from the 14th century. Floats from local clubs, Carnival societies from Gerolstein, Stadtkyll, and Daun, dance troupes, music bands, and the Hillesheim triumvirate shape the colorful spectacle.
During the parade, bus lines 640, 643, and 644 will be rerouted between approximately 2 PM and 4 PM. Downtown streets will be temporarily closed; please observe signage and instructions from marshals.
Afterwards, participants and spectators celebrate in the local pubs and in the HKV's festival tent. The atmosphere is warm, family-friendly, and unmistakably Rhenish – a classic Eifel Carnival scene between tradition and merriment.
The 2025/2026 Carnival season marks the 75th anniversary of the Hillesheim Carnival Club. The 2026 Rose Monday parade is set to give this anniversary special radiance and bring together participants from Hillesheim, Gerolstein, Stadtkyll, Daun, and other Eifel towns in the Vulkaneifel.
The final parade order will be published by the HKV via hillesheimer-karnevalsverein.de and the local press.
