First Rockabilly Party at VOLKSHAUSGARTEN Colbitz with Wednesday Mob and THE BEEFEES
Colbitz is actually known for the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide, a vast military training area, and for its clear drinking water. In 2026, a new chapter begins: the first Rock'n'Colbitz, a genuine Rockabilly party with pompadour hairstyles, petticoats, and deep twangs, will take place in the VOLKSHAUSGARTEN at Lindhorster Straße 17. The organizer is Heide Event GbR, establishing its own format here — something that hasn't existed between Magdeburg and Stendal before.
The band traveling the furthest this weekend is Wednesday Mob from Australia. The group brings a sound they call Australian Redneck Barngrass — Bluegrass, Surf, and Country with a solid dose of Rockabilly DNA. The evening's headliners are THE BEEFEES, classic Rockabilly veterans, plus DJ Manu Tanzratte for breaks and after-hours. Ted Stanetzky from Rockland Radio will host.
The program runs from 2:00 PM to 2:00 AM in the Volkshausgarten — a family program in the afternoon (bouncy castle, face painting, vintage styling), a dance class for beginners, a King & Queen contest in the early evening, and full-throttle Rockabilly on stage from 7:00 PM. Plus, street food from GoGrillaz and cocktails. Admission is free — an unusual setup for a festival with live acts from overseas, financed by the organizer through sponsors and beverage sales.
Colbitz is part of the Börde district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, about half an hour north of Magdeburg. The surrounding heathland, said to have been fortified by Charlemagne, invites hiking — ideal for arriving with an overnight stay. The Volkshausgarten itself is a well-established festival site with a stage and ample shade. A small, fine festival that hopefully marks the beginning of a series.
Premiere for Rock'n'Colbitz: A continuous event from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. The organizers aim for broad appeal — family-friendly and participatory in the afternoon, with live concerts and DJ sets in the evening. Free admission for all age groups.
Host: Ted Stanetzky (Rockland Radio).
