One City, One Night, Twelve Stages

Magdeburg has always had a special relationship with the Elbe — but on one night of the year, the city of river events is particularly palpable. Riverside @ Night is the longest music night of the year — on a Saturday at the beginning of August, 12 venues along the Elbe riverbank, between Wissenschaftshafen in the north and the Buckau district in the south, open their stages. From Schlager to Disco-House to Drum'n'Bass: each stage has its own genre, each its own audience.

Admission is free everywhere. Anyone who wants to visit one of the locations simply goes there — or takes the ship shuttle of the Weiße Flotte, which operates between the various venues during the night (5 € per trip). Those who prefer a more classic approach can take their bike, walk, or use the Mückenwirt-Rotehornpark ferry.

The Twelve Stages — From 80s to Drum'n'Bass

Each location has its own profile. At Café Treibgut, people dance to 80s and 90s music, and around midnight, the fireworks begin. The Strandbar creates a beach party atmosphere on the sand, while the Schweizer Milchkuranstalt presents indie-pop and electronic funk. At Fort XII, a cover band plays hits from the 50s to the 70s, and at Culinaria, it's Disco/House/80s. At Endgleis 50, there's Italian grilling, and at Le Frog, energetic rock and pop bands play. In the Montego Beachclub, you'll find electronic dance sounds, and in the Hyparschale, a mix of Schlager, House, and Drum'n'Bass. The Elbelandhaus serves classic rock and pop, the Mückenwirt features party bands and dance music. The Yachthafen and Hafenbar complete the picture with oldies, pop, and current hits.

Magdeburg, Elbe, and Summer Night

Riverside @ Night is more than a city festival — it's a special way to experience a city on the river. Magdeburg's tradition of open-air events dates back to the GDR era, but the current format is a pure invention of recent years. On an August night, when the Elbe flows calmly and fairy lights twinkle in the trees, a stroll from one stage to the next is one of the most beautiful experiences that the state of Saxony-Anhalt has to offer.
