About Rieslingweinfest Detzem

The Rieslingweinfest Detzem celebrates Detzem Riesling from August 1st to 3rd, 2026, at the historic Bürgerhaus, the former 19th-century inn. In the magnificent Kaisersaal, the Kultur- und Touristikverein Detzem e.V. invites you to a public wine tasting, while outside, wine, food, and music stands create a festive atmosphere on the first August weekend. The festival is part of the traditional Mosel wine events of the Schweich municipality and attracts regular guests and day-trippers from the Trier region.

Detzem and Riesling

Detzem is located in the middle of the Middle Mosel loop between Trier and Bernkastel. The steep slate slopes around the village shape Rieslings with distinct minerality – they are the focus of the annual Riesling festival, which local vintners organize together with the Kultur- und Touristikverein. The date is traditionally the first weekend of August.

Historic Bürgerhaus as the Stage

The venue is the Bürgerhaus Detzem, an inn built in the 19th century, which now serves as a cultural and community center. Wine and snack stands are set up in the forecourt, and inside, the historic Kaisersaal opens its doors for the public wine tasting – one of the weekend's highlights. The Detzem vintners present a cross-section of their current collection, from dry Gutswein to Spätlese.

Three Days of Mosel Festival Atmosphere

The program is spread over three days: Friday evening usually marks the convivial start, Saturday brings music and culinary highlights, and Sunday is family-oriented with a Frühschoppen (morning pint) and winding down in the late afternoon. The festival is supported by volunteers from the village associations, which shapes its rustic, warm character – typical for the smaller wine festivals on the Middle Mosel.

In the Cycle of Mosel Weekends

Visitors to the Rieslingweinfest Detzem can easily combine it with other Mosel festival dates: at the beginning of August, the Weinkirmes (wine fair) in neighboring towns also beckons, and the Leiwener Weinfest follows two weeks later. Detzem benefits from the Moselsteig trail, which passes directly by the village, making it a good stopover for hikers.

Rieslingweinfest Detzem — edition 2026

The Rieslingweinfest Detzem opens its festival grounds at the historic Bürgerhaus from August 1st to 3rd, 2026. For three days, Detzem Riesling, Mosel specialties, and live music are the focus. The highlight is the public wine tasting in the magnificent Kaisersaal of the Bürgerhaus, where local vintners present a cross-section of their current harvest. Admission to the festival grounds is free; consumption is at the stands on site.

In 2026, the Rieslingweinfest will continue with the proven three-day format. Friday evening marks the relaxed start with a welcome and initial musical contributions. Saturday is the most important festival day with music, specialties, and the highlight of the public wine tasting in the Kaisersaal. Sunday rounds off the festival with a Frühschoppen, family program, and a quiet conclusion.

The Kultur- und Touristikverein Detzem e.V. coordinates the stands and the stage program together with the local vintners and associations.
