Joint concert with 70s hits and Latin American works in Duderstadt City Park
The Crossover Concert is a rather rare program item in the Duderstadt Cultural Summer. The event in the city park brings together different musical worlds, consciously breaking down the genre-typical separation of classical, pop, and world music. The venue is the open-air stage in the Stadtpark Auf dem Graben.
Under this programmatic title, the concert combines 70s hits in contemporary arrangements with Latin American works – from Bossa Nova and Salsa to Mexican and Brazilian classics. This combination opens the program to lovers of pop and Schlager music as well as fans of Latin sounds.
The concert is conceived as a joint project of several ensembles. Symphonic winds, strings, rhythm sections, soloists, and choir parts come together in a flexible stage architecture. The arrangements combine the rhythmic energy of Latin American music with the catchy melodies of 70s pop.
With the Crossover Concert, the Duderstadt Cultural Summer positions itself as a curatorially ambitious series that also enables musically experimental formats beyond the usual Schlager and pop programs. The audience primarily comes from the Eichsfeld, South Lower Saxony, and North Hesse regions.
The 2026 edition presents the Crossover Concert under the title Electric Lights and Latin Passion, combining two thematic focuses: the pop and disco melodies of the 70s and the rhythmic diversity of Latin American music. The open-air stage in the city park will be equipped with an expanded light show for the disco atmosphere and additional percussion for the Latin sets.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of a crossover concert: Block I with classics of 70s pop and disco music in symphonic arrangements, Block II with Salsa, Bossa Nova, and Latin pop classics, rounded off by solo and tutti moments of the participating musicians.
