50th Edition – Schlager Star Semino Rossi on the Market Square of the Rhön Town Tann
The Rhöner Wirtefest in Tann (Rhön) is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026. From September 11th to 13th, the historic market square of the small East Hessian town in the Fulda district will transform into the festival center for the entire Rhön region. Thousands of visitors from Hesse, Thuringia, and Bavaria travel to the half-timbered town directly on the tri-border area every year.
The musical main act of the anniversary year is a real highlight: On Friday evening, September 11th, 2026, starting at 7 PM, Semino Rossi – one of the most famous Schlager stars in the German-speaking world – will perform live on Tann's market square. He will be accompanied by Austrian singer Natalie Holzner and presenter Andreas Hess from Eckweisbach.
Austrian-Argentinian singer Semino Rossi celebrated his breakthrough in 2004 with TV appearances on German folk music shows. Since then, he has received numerous awards, including the ECHO and the Goldene Henne, and regularly tours the German-speaking world.
In addition to the main concert on Friday, the Rhöner Wirtefest offers a mix of craft market, folk festival (Volksfest), and folklore over three days: Local businesses, innkeepers, and clubs present themselves on the market square, along with traditional costume groups, brass bands, and dance performances from the Rhön.
Tann is a small town with around 4,500 inhabitants in the Hessian part of the Rhön, directly on the border with Thuringia and Bavaria. The half-timbered old town with its historic market square and Tann Castle is one of the most beautiful in the Rhön.
Behind the Wirtefest is the Gewerbe- und Verkehrsverein Tann e.V. – a voluntary association of local businesses. The 50th edition in 2026 is a special moment in the association's history.
The Rhön has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1991 and extends across the federal states of Hesse, Thuringia, and Bavaria. Tann is located in the middle of this low mountain range region, known for its high moors, mountain meadows, and the 'Land of Open Distances'. The Rhöner Wirtefest is the largest commercial event in the Hessian Rhön and a meeting place for the three federal states.
Three days of festivities for the 50th edition. Friday evening is dedicated to the concert by Semino Rossi with Natalie Holzner. Saturday and Sunday offer the traditional Wirtefest program with clubs, businesses, and folklore from the Rhön.

If you don't like Schlager: Saturday and Sunday offer a market, folklore, and folk festival (Volksfest) with a much more relaxed atmosphere than on the Friday concert evening. The Sunday morning get-togethers (Frühschoppen) are a particular classic.
