Pop and Hip-Hop Open Air on the Kunst!Rasen Bonn with Ikkimel as headliner
If you're in Bonn at the end of August and fancy a summer evening with current German indie-pop and female rap, Rheinkilometer 652 Open Air is the place to be. The unusual festival name refers to the exact river kilometer marking of the Rhine: at kilometer 652, the Rhine flows directly past the festival grounds – a geographical pinpoint that has become a brand.
The venue is the Kunst!Rasen Bonn, an established open-air playground in the government district. The meadow is located near the Heussallee – between the former Federal Chancellery, the Heussallee subway station, and the Rheinaue park. For over two decades, the Kunst!Rasen has been a stage for classic open-air concerts: Sting, Norah Jones, Pet Shop Boys, and many more have performed here. The capacity is manageable, the atmosphere more intimate than large festival grounds – a high-quality open-air format with a sophisticated Bonn touch.
The lineup is a selection of current German pop and rap acts:
The mix of established acts (Ikkimel) and emerging artists is typical of the curatorial line of the Kunst!Rasen: concert programming as talent scouting combined with mainstream pop.
Starting at 5:15 PM, the festival utilizes the early summer evening for the first acts; the headliner Ikkimel is expected to perform in the late evening slot. Picnic blankets are generally allowed (but no outside food/drink), and the meadow is suitable for relaxed sitting and dancing. Food trucks, bars, and merchandising stands line the playground. The sun sets around 8:30 PM in the late season; the headliner's final sets will therefore take place at dusk and in the dark, creating the ideal concert atmosphere.
Bonn, with 335,000 inhabitants, is the federal city and former capital of the Federal Republic of Germany (1949-1990), located at the southern transition from the Rhineland to the Middle Rhine. Despite losing its capital status, the city remains a political center (UN Bonn, several federal ministries), a university city, and home to renowned cultural institutions (Beethoven House, Bundeskunsthalle, Haus der Geschichte). The Kunst!Rasen is located in the Gronau/government district, easily accessible by subway.
Tickets start at €55.50 and are sold via tickets.kunstrasen-bonn.de. This is the 26th edition of the concert series at Kunst!Rasen in 2026. Those who want to attend multiple concerts can book packages and season tickets via the official website.
The performance order will be announced on the website shortly before the concert. Experience shows that the emerging acts play in the early evening, and the headliner in the late evening at dusk.
