Summer Night Festival in the Braubach Rhine Gardens with Fireworks on the Rhine in Flames Spay–Koblenz
Rhein in Flammen is one of Germany's most famous event formats. On several weekends between May and September, large fireworks displays and illuminated ship convoys transform the Middle Rhine Valley into a spectacle of light. The Spay–Koblenz date – traditionally the largest and most attended – is celebrated on August 8, 2026, and Braubach, as a Middle Rhine town, is directly involved.
In the Braubach Rhine Gardens, a unique summer night festival takes place on this evening. From 4 PM, the food and drink stalls open, and from 7 PM, live music plays on the stage. The atmosphere is relaxed, convivial, and marked by anticipation for the fireworks.
Around 9:45 PM, the grand fireworks display begins. The sky lights up from the Loreley rock to Koblenz; the illuminated ship convoy with dozens of festively lit ships sails down the Rhine, offering a spectacular view from the Braubach riverbank. The nearby Marksburg castle is also illuminated.
In 2026, the summer night festival has additional significance: Braubach is celebrating 750 years of town privileges this year, and the official ceremony for the anniversary takes place on the Friday before Rhein in Flammen. The summer night festival on August 8 will thus be the highlight of the anniversary week.
The summer night festival is easily accessible on foot and by train – travel by car is severely restricted on this evening.
The 2026 edition combines the annual summer night festival with Braubach's 750th anniversary of town privileges. The date in the first week of August is one of the busiest days in the Middle Rhine Valley every year.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the city of Braubach in the summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
