Classical Riding Art in a Compact Format

The Riding Art Matinee is a concentrated format presented by the Princely Court Riding School Bückeburg. In approximately 60 minutes, the riders and stallions demonstrate the focal points of their daily training and choreographic work: classical exercises, acrobatic airs above the ground, pas de deux, and ground work. The matinee differs from the grand galas by its focus on the essentials and is particularly suitable for families and visitors with an initial interest in classical riding art.

The Riding Hall as a Stage

The historic riding hall, with its gallery, richly decorated interior, and perfect acoustics, provides a unique backdrop. The close proximity between the audience and the horses allows for an intimate experience of each exercise, enabling the audience to appreciate the concentration and skill of the four-legged artists.

Classical Exercises

The program features exercises of the High School – piaffe (trot on the spot), passage (collected trot), airs above the ground (levade, courbette, capriole) – as well as exercises on the long rein, ground work, and pas de deux. Musical accompaniment is synchronized with the respective movement sequences.

Set within the Palace Ensemble

Before or after the matinee, a visit to the Baroque palace gardens, the mausoleum, or the town center of Bückeburg is recommended. Cafés and restaurants in the Schlossvorstadt area offer culinary accompaniments for the day.
