Isernhagen Hopfenfest — Craft Beer on the Historic Church Hill

When beer kegs are tapped around the Marienkirche in the Kircher Bauerschaft, when the smell of street food is in the air, and when live music fills the church hill from the stage, it's the Isernhagen Hopfenfest. The two-day beer festival has become a firm fixture in the festival calendar of the northern Hannover region since its premiere — a tribute to brewing tradition and the contemporary craft beer scene.

Craft Beer in Focus

Unlike a classic Volksfest (public festival), the Hopfenfest focuses on craft-brewed beers. Local and regional breweries, often small manufactories, present their varieties — from hop-forward IPAs and classic Pilsners and wheat beers to experimental styles like Sour Ale or Stout. Tasting glasses and small portions allow visitors to sample the diversity. The exhibitors are available for questions — the Hopfenfest is therefore not only a place of enjoyment but also an educational venue for beer drinkers.

Street Food, Cocktails, and Atmosphere

The beer offerings are complemented by street food: burgers, BBQ, vegetarian and vegan options, international specialties. A cocktail bar supplements the beverage selection for those who don't want to drink exclusively beer. The organizer, Isernhagener Hopfenfest e.V., is a non-profit association that runs the festival on a voluntary basis. Proceeds go to the association's work and future festival editions.
