Concept of the Regional Music Festival

The Regional Music Festival originated from the idea of making the musical diversity of the Braunschweig/Wolfsburg region visible in a large joint event. It brings together choirs, bands, orchestras, ensembles, and soloists from all genres — from classical and choral music to jazz, pop, rock, and folk, as well as singer-songwriters and electronic sounds.

Wolfsburg's Role

For the 7th edition, Wolfsburg was the host and used the Hallenbad — a striking modern concert and event location — as its central stage. For the 8th edition in 2026, the festival moves to Braunschweig; Wolfsburg will participate as a host city with its own musicians. Wolfsburg choirs, bands, and ensembles will travel to Braunschweig, perform there, and contribute their music to the regional soundscape.

Date of the 8th Edition

The 8th edition will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Braunschweig. Wolfsburg music lovers should therefore keep two dates in mind: traveling to Braunschweig for the main festival, and any accompanying events in Wolfsburg itself.

Motto and Program

The motto Listen up — this is what the region sounds like reflects the democratic concept: it's not about stars, but about the soundscape of an entire region. Venues, stages, and styles are deliberately broad.

Wolfsburg/Braunschweig Partnership

The event symbolizes the close musical and cultural ties between the two cities. Despite historical rivalry on the football pitch, Wolfsburg and Braunschweig cooperate closely in many cultural areas — the Regional Music Festival is one of the best examples.
