Traditional folk festival on the Danube with over 600 years of history
The Regensburger Dult evolved from a medieval church fair into a major regional folk festival. With over 600 years of tradition, it is one of Bavaria's most historic festivals. Two Dulten take place annually: the Maidult in spring and the Herbstdult in late summer in the city of Regensburg in the Upper Palatinate.
The venue is the Dultplatz at Protzenweiher in the Stadtamhof district, directly on the Danube. The spacious grounds feature two large festival tents, as well as traditional fish grills and cosy beer gardens. The festival tents open daily from 11 a.m.
The Dult comprises several components: the amusement Dult with rides and attractions, the festival tent experience with Bavarian festival culture, and the goods market (Warendult), where vendors from all over Germany offer their wares. A traditional parade traditionally opens the festivities.
The event is organised by the City of Regensburg, with programme and marketing handled by the Werbegemeinschaft Regensburger Dulten. The Herbstdult is a social and cultural highlight in late summer in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Regensburg.
From August 28 to September 13, 2026, the Dultplatz at Protzenweiher in Stadtamhof will once again transform into the venue for the Regensburger Herbstdult. The festival tents open daily from 11 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. (until 11:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and before public holidays).
The amusement Dult with its rides is open from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., with extended hours on weekends and before public holidays. Simultaneously, the goods market invites visitors to stroll and shop between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. Traditional fish grills and beer gardens complete the festival offerings.
The Dultplatz is located at Protzenweiher in Stadtamhof, north of the Danube. Arrive by train to Regensburg Hauptbahnhof and continue with city buses; by car via the A3 or A93. Signposted parking and shuttle services are available during the festival.
Festival tents daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Fridays, Saturdays, and before public holidays until 11:30 p.m.), amusement Dult 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., goods market 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
