Tradition on November 11th

For decades, November 11th has been the symbolic start of the Carnival season in the Palatinate and Rhineland. The time 18:11 refers to the jesters' number eleven and is equally established in numerous Carnival strongholds. In Dahn, the storming of the town hall is the central public kickoff – here, club members, officials, and Carnival fans come together.

Symbolic Takeover of Power

The centerpiece of the event is the handover of the town hall key from the mayor to the president of the Carnival Club. With this, the jesters symbolically take over governmental power for the duration of the Carnival season until Ash Wednesday. The prince and princess couple for the 2026/2027 season will be presented, the club's anthem will be played, and the dance troupes will showcase their first choreographies.

KVE Dahn as a Carrier of Tradition

For many decades, the KVE Dahn Carnival Club has been a carrier of Carnival culture in the collective municipality of Dahn Felsenland. The club not only organizes the storming of the town hall but also the major gala sessions in winter, children's sessions, and parades that extend into spring.

Beginning of a Long Season

With the storming of the town hall, an almost six-month phase begins, during which Dahn and the Felsenland are characterized by Carnival. Sessions, balls, costume events, and finally the street parades of the fifth season shape social life. The kickoff event on November 11th serves as the common starting point for all these dates.
