10th Edition — Three Days of Village Festival in Kraichgau
The Rathausplatzfest in Gondelsheim celebrates its 10th edition in 2026. What began as a small summer festival in 2007 is now one of the liveliest village festivals in Kraichgau — a weekend where the community of around 3,600 inhabitants in the Karlsruhe district gathers all its clubs, bands, and food trucks around the Rathausplatz.
Friday evening belongs to Cris Cosmo & Band, the Mannheim-based reggae-pop singer-songwriter, who became known nationwide with his hits "Bisschen Mehr" and "Komm zurück." On Saturday, Five against Billy take over with classic rock 'n' roll cover versions — a guarantee for a danceable atmosphere. Both performances are free. Sunday focuses on family programming: a children's play street, bouncy castles, face painting, and a morning pint format with brass music.
Food trucks and club stalls line the area around the stage: from burgers to pulled pork and vegetarian Maultaschen to crêpes and ice cream. The local clubs — the music association, sports clubs, fire department, and rural women's associations — serve wine from nearby Kraichgau, cocktails, and beer, and offer cakes and salads. The festival weekend is also the most important source of income for the clubs for the year.
Gondelsheim is located in the heart of Kraichgau, the hilly wine-growing and fruit-growing region between Karlsruhe and Heilbronn. Characteristic features include the rolling hills, the scattered fruit orchards, the 18th-century Gondelsheim Castle, and the close connection to the Stromberg region. Gondelsheim is directly connected to Karlsruhe and Bretten via the S 9 tram line (KVV) — so you can easily reach the festival without a car.
The anniversary year 2026 marks the 10th edition of the Rathausplatzfest. Three days of programming around Gondelsheim's Rathausplatz, organized by the community together with local clubs.
It opens on Friday at 7:15 PM with the ceremonial tapping of the keg, followed by a performance by Cris Cosmo & Band from Mannheim. Saturday features Rock 'n' Roll covers by Five against Billy, and Sunday is dedicated to family programming.
Free admission. Beer 0.5 l approx. €4–5, wine 0.2 l approx. €5, meals €5–12.
Take the KVV tram line S 9 from Karlsruhe or Bretten directly to Gondelsheim, then a 5-minute walk to Rathausplatz. By car, take the A 8 (Karlsbad exit) or the B 35. Parking spaces are designated in the community; Park-and-Ride is recommended during peak times.
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Food and drinks at the stalls are subject to charge.
Sunday is explicitly Family Day with a children's play street, bouncy castles, and an entertainment program. Changing facilities available at the Rathaus.
