Räubermarkt Damme — Autumn Fair with a Long Tradition

The Dammer Räubermarkt is the autumn counterpart to the spring fair and one of the most well-known annual markets in the southern Oldenburger Münsterland. Every year on the last weekend of September, the market attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Damme's city center. Its name refers to the historical market activities of the region, which drew numerous traveling merchants to the main streets around Damme centuries ago.

Three Days Full of Market Life

From Friday to Sunday, the market square, main street, and adjacent squares transform into a colorful landscape of markets and amusement rides. Large attractions like the Ferris wheel or bumper cars alternate with children's carousels, game stalls, candy stands, and food trucks. Sunday is traditionally dedicated to the large flea market, which stretches through several streets and offers space for both private bargain hunters and professional dealers.

Sunday Opening Hours and Retail Trade

Closely linked to the Räubermarkt is the Sunday opening of shops: Damme's retailers open their doors and use the weekend for autumn promotions, courtyard sales, and special presentations. Cafés, bakeries, and restaurants in the city center provide culinary refreshment between carousel rides and flea market strolls.

The Räubermarkt is not just a Volksfest, but also a social anchor for the population in the southern Vechta district. Clubs meet at the market, families go for a stroll with children and grandparents, and many visitors from outside the area use the last mild, warm weekend of the season for a day trip to Damme.
