Traditional four-day wine festival (Weinkirmes) in the Rachtig district with a parade and Monday market
Zeltingen-Rachtig is one of the best-known wine-growing communities on the Middle Mosel. The Zeltingen and Rachtig vineyard sites – especially Zeltinger Sonnenuhr and Schlossberg – are among the classic Mosel Riesling sites with international reputation. The Rachtiger Weinkirmes has been celebrating this tradition for generations in the district of the same name, Rachtig.
From Friday, July 10th, to Monday, July 13th, 2026, Rachtig's festival grounds will transform into a convivial festival area. Local vintners will serve their wines by the glass, and the festival caterer will provide food and drinks. There will be classic fairground attractions, carousels, stalls, and snack stands, along with a musical program featuring live bands and dance music in the festival hall.
The Rachtiger Weinkirmes concludes with a traditional Monday market. While other festivals end on Sunday, Rachtig remains open on Monday with a market that simultaneously emphasizes the rural character of the festival and attracts visitors from the wider area. The market brings together regional exhibitors, food stalls, and souvenir vendors, giving the final day of the festival a special character.
The Rachtiger Weinkirmes embodies the authentic, village atmosphere of the Middle Mosel: deeply rooted regionally, with strong participation from local clubs, a loyal regular audience, and a mix of wine enjoyment, customs, and folk festival elements. Compared to the large Mosel events, it offers a more compact, personal format.
The 2026 edition follows the classic schedule. The festival hall and the festival grounds in the village center will be the stage for vintners, musicians, and visitors over the four days. Local clubs are heavily involved and shape the atmosphere.
The Monday market forms the traditional conclusion: while other festivals end on Sunday, Rachtig extends the program to include Monday, combining festival operations with a market character.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
Zeltingen-Rachtig is accessible via the B 53 and the K 38. The nearest train station is Wittlich or Bullay, from where Mosel buses run.
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Wine, food, drinks, and fairground attractions are paid for on-site.
