Heimatsound festival in the brewery estate between Nürnberg and Ingolstadt
The Pyraser Open Air is one of Middle Franconia's most charming summer festivals: an open-air day in the middle of the hilly Jura landscape of the Roth district, at the brewery estate of the traditional Pyraser Landbrauerei brewery in the Pyras district of the market town Thalmässing in the Bavarian state of Bavaria. The festival exclusively features regional artists, all united by one thing: the musical fusion of tradition and modernity — brass band music and rap, double bass and electric guitar, folk music and pop.
The term "Heimatsound" describes a Bavarian music movement that combines local roots (brass band music, folk music, Franconian dialect) with contemporary styles. With its open-air festival, Pyras has become a permanent fixture of this scene. On stage in the large festival barn and in the spacious beer garden under tent roofs, a mix of traditional Volksfest (public festival) and modern festival emerges — traditional costume is welcome, but not mandatory.
In 2026, nine acts will perform on Saturday, July 18: GLUEBOYS, DeSchoWieda, Anja Bavaria, The Heimatdamisch, Caro Fux, BBOU, Hip da Banda, Gankino Circus, and Die Hip'rer Hundsgrübbl. Admission from 12:00 PM, start at 1:00 PM.
The Pyraser Landbrauerei has been family-owned for generations and brews specialties such as Pyraser Herrnpils, the Original Landbier, or the hoppy Hopfen Rebell. During the open-air festival, there will be freshly tapped beer from the barrel and even 10-liter barrels for self-tapping at the table. Free brewery tours are scheduled for 3:30 PM (tickets at the entrance, limited spots).
Franconian specialties from the in-house kitchen and a food court will cater to the guests. Free camping and free parking are available on the festival grounds from Friday to Sunday — those who wish can turn the day festival into a whole weekend. Pyras is located between Nürnberg and Ingolstadt in the Altmühltal Nature Park.
