About PS & Coffee Pirmasens

PS & Coffee is the popular summer classic car meeting of the Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD) on the central Exerzierplatz in Pirmasens. On a Saturday morning, the historic square transforms into an open-air exhibition with around 250 classic vehicles — from pre-war classics and post-war economic miracle sedans to youngtimers from the 1980s and 1990s.

The meeting is complemented by motorcycles, refreshments with coffee and cake, and casual conversations between vehicle owners and visitors. Around 1000 spectators attend the free event each time. The sixth edition will take place in August 2026 — after the success of the first five editions, it is already firmly planned.

PS & Coffee is a relatively young but rapidly established event in the Pirmasens summer calendar. Initiated by the Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD), the meeting combines the classic concept of a morning coffee and classics meet with the spectacular backdrop of the Pirmasens Exerzierplatz — one of the largest squares in the West Palatinate city, historically used as a parade ground for the Palatinate garrison.

The fifth edition already took place in August 2025 and attracted considerable interest with around 250 classic cars and motorcycles and approximately 1000 visitors. The sixth edition in 2026 is already firmly planned and aims to build on this success.

The concept is wonderfully simple and charming: on a Saturday in August, classic car owners from Pirmasens, the West Palatinate, the Saarland, and neighboring France gather on the Exerzierplatz. The vehicles are parked in loose groups and can be freely viewed by visitors — with no admission fee, no formal competitions, no award ceremonies. The spirit of the meeting thrives on casual exchange between enthusiasts: tuning tips are shared, restoration stories are told, original parts are sought and found.

The range of vehicles on display is broad: pre-war classics such as Mercedes 170V or DKW F8 stand alongside economic miracle icons like Borgward Isabella, Opel Rekord, or VW Beetle. Sports cars from the sixties and seventies — Porsche 911, Mercedes SL, Jaguar E-Type, MG B — form a focal point, as do French and Italian classics. More recent vehicles include youngtimers from the eighties and nineties, as well as selected German luxury models.

Motorcycles are also welcome, from classic NSU and Zündapp models to BMW R models and British classics like Triumph or Norton. A total of around 250 vehicles gather each year — a remarkable density for a smaller West Palatinate city.

Refreshments are provided by local vendors offering coffee, cake, savory snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages. The character of a morning meeting without commercial pressure is deliberately maintained; PS & Coffee stands for uncomplicated encounters between people who love historic mobility.

PS & Coffee Pirmasens — edition 2026

The sixth edition of PS & Coffee will take place in August 2026 on the Pirmasens Exerzierplatz. As in previous years, the meeting organized by the Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD) brings together around 250 classic cars and motorcycles for a morning gathering with a relaxed atmosphere, coffee and cake service, and free viewing. Around 1000 spectators are expected. Admission is free, and the exact date will be announced by the AvD in early summer 2026.

The 2026 edition marks the sixth year of the successful Pirmasens classic car meeting and follows the proven concept: classic cars and motorcycles from various eras, free viewing without a competitive element, on-site refreshments, and casual exchange between vehicle owners and visitors.

The Exerzierplatz, with its historic ambiance and spacious grounds, provides a fitting setting for the show. The selection ranges from pre-war classics and economic miracle icons to youngtimers from the eighties and nineties. The meeting is open to all lovers of historic mobility; formal registration is recommended but not mandatory.
