Prunksitzung FC Felsenland Fischbach with Children's Carnival

The Prunksitzungen of FC Felsenland Fischbach are among the traditional carnival events in the Dahn Felsenland. The venue is the Mehrzweckhalle Fischbach near Dahn, which becomes the center of carnival activity during the February days. The club FC Felsenland Fischbach is responsible for the organization and provides its own performers and a dance troupe.

Three Dates in February

The Fischbach carnival campaign 2026 kicks off on Saturday, February 7, 2026, with the Kinderfasching (Children's Carnival) – a family event with age-appropriate programs, dance performances by youth troupes, games, and communal swaying (Schunkeln). A week later, on Friday and Saturday, February 13th and 14th, 2026, the grand Prunksitzungen follow with the classic structure: satirical speeches (Büttenreden) in the Palatinate dialect, dance troupes with show and march dances, musical contributions, show acts, and communal singing.

Palatinate Tradition

The Palatinate hall carnival (Saalfastnacht) is strongly influenced by dialect. Satirical speeches (Büttenreden) in the Palatinate dialect are the centerpiece; they satirically address local issues, municipal politics, club life, and societal peculiarities. Dance troupes with their colorful uniforms, show dances, and live music complete the program. Unlike the professionalized sessions in large Rhenish cities, the Palatinate version is strongly volunteer- and club-based.

Fischbach near Dahn

Fischbach near Dahn is a municipality with just under 1,750 inhabitants in the Dahn Felsenland. The village belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Dahner Felsenland and is located northeast of Dahn. The municipality is also known for the former Fischbach Copper Mine, which is now open as a visitor mine. Community life is active; FC Felsenland and its carnival section are central pillars of the village community.
