Courtyard festival and culinary delights in the heart of the famous Mosel wine village
Piesport is one of the great names of the Middle Mosel. The top vineyard site Piesporter Goldtröpfchen produces Rieslings on slate that set international standards. During the Winery Courtyard Festival in August, the Piesport wine-growing families open their courtyards to the public: instead of an anonymous large stand, you will be welcomed in the inner courtyards, vaulted cellars, and front gardens of the houses, often by the vintner or a family member personally.
With the Piesport festival glass in hand, you wander along a signposted route from one estate to another, tasting a selection of the house wines at each stop and discovering the historic architecture of the Mosel wine village along the way. Each estate offers its own culinary highlights – sometimes wood-fired Flammkuchen, sometimes game dishes, sometimes cheese specialties, or Mosel bratwurst. Live music and cabaret in individual courtyards create a festive atmosphere.
The focus is on Piesport Riesling in all its styles – from dry-mineralic Kabinett to noble sweet Auslese. Those seeking more background can visit the reconstructed Roman wine press facility on the outskirts of the village: an impressive testament to the fact that wine has been produced in this bend of the Mosel for almost 2000 years. The combination of living wine tradition and ancient wine archaeology makes this event unique on the Mosel.

The Winery Courtyard Festival is part of the Piesport Culinary Wine Days format, which takes place annually in August and October. While the October edition is held as a cellar festival with Federweißer and the end of the season, the August event focuses on the summer courtyard atmosphere.
The detailed 2026 program will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
Piesport is located on the B53 between Bernkastel-Kues and Trier. Designated festival parking is signposted on the outskirts of the village. Neumagen-Dhron train station is nearby.
Admission to the festival mile is free. Wines are served in the Piesport festival glass, available for a deposit at participating estates.
The reconstructed Roman wine press facility on the outskirts of the village can be visited during the festival weekend; guided tours are available depending on the program.
