12th edition of the Pforzheim Beer Festival — over 300 beers from around the world on the Marktplatz, from Ascension Day to Saturday night
In 2026, the Pforzheim Beer Festival celebrates its 12th edition and is a firm fixture in Pforzheim's spring event calendar. For three days, the historic Marktplatz in front of the town hall transforms into a spacious beer garden — the largest open-air beer stage in the city of Pforzheim and the surrounding Enzkreis district (Baden-Württemberg).
The heart of the Beer Festival are the around 30 beer and food stalls, which together serve over 300 different beer specialties. From classic Pilsner to Belgian Trappist beers, Irish Stout, British Ale, Czech Lager, and craft beer rarities from the USA, Mexico, or Japan — the selection covers the entire spectrum of international beer culture. You can try varieties on-site or take bottled beers home as souvenirs.
The opening on Thursday — Ascension Day (Christi Himmelfahrt) and thus Father's Day — is traditionally the highlight: Father's Day party with Weißwurst breakfast and live music (in previous years with the band Firma Holunder and DJ). On Friday and Saturday, cover bands like Dougie & The Blind Brothers or Cover Up continue the musical program. Open Thursday 11 AM–10 PM, Friday 3 PM–12 AM, Saturday 1 PM–12 AM.
Pforzheim, with around 128,000 inhabitants, is the independent city on the northern edge of the Black Forest, and has been the center of the German jewelry and watch industry since the 18th century — hence the nickname "Goldstadt" (Gold City). The Marktplatz with the modern town hall is in the heart of the city center, easily accessible on foot from the main train station. The Beer Festival is part of a nationwide event series organized by ALPHA-MARKETING (Petra Noll), which organizes similar open-air beer festivals in over a dozen German cities.
The 12th edition follows the proven format of three festival days with live music and over 300 beers. Thursday kicks off as Father's Day with a Weißwurst breakfast and musical accompaniment — the Marktplatz fills up from the morning, with early birds mingling with classic Father's Day groups. On Friday, the focus shifts to the evening from 3 PM with a cover band program, and on Saturday, the program extends until midnight.
Free admission. Payment directly at the stalls — beer prices starting from approx. €4 (0.3 l) depending on the variety, specialties and take-away bottles accordingly higher. Food stalls at usual Volksfest price levels.
By train to Pforzheim Hauptbahnhof, then a 10-minute walk to the Marktplatz. By car via the A 8 (Karlsruhe–Stuttgart), exit Pforzheim-West or -Ost, parking garages in the city center.
