Three-day medieval market at Pentecost at the Heimathaus Rotenburg (Wümme) with concerts and camp life
When the Fogelvreien pitch their tents at the Heimathaus Rotenburg for Pentecost, the Pfingstspektakel begins. Organizer Fogelvrei Produktionen — an experienced provider of historical markets — transforms the Heimathaus at Burgstraße 2 into a medieval market village for three days. The extended Pentecost weekend is traditionally an important time for medieval market organizers: three days of holiday offerings, beautiful early summer weather, and the historical symbolism of the Pentecost festival create ideal conditions.
The Heimathaus Rotenburg (Wümme) at Burgstraße 2 is a cultural center with traditional architecture and outdoor areas well-suited for historical market formats. The rural structures and clear layout create an intimate atmosphere that matches the scale of a classic medieval market — unlike large castle or palace markets that attract a more anonymous mass audience.
The program includes the classic elements of a medieval market: artisans demonstrate their crafts at their stalls — blacksmiths, potters, leatherworkers, felt makers. Market stalls offer medieval clothing, jewelry, drinking horns, leather goods, and culinary specialties. Jesters, jugglers, and fire performers provide entertainment throughout all three days. A camp with medieval reenactors makes camp life tangibly experienceable — knights, squires, peasant women, and artisans present medieval ways of life.
The musical highlight is the Saturday evening concert with the medieval band Satolstelamanderfanz. The band is known in the German medieval music scene for their energetic fusion of historical sounds — hurdy-gurdy, shawm, drums — with modern rhythms and performance elements. Such live concerts are what make medieval markets particularly dynamic and distinguish them from purely sales-oriented markets.
From May 23rd to 25th, 2026, the Heimathaus Rotenburg will transform into a medieval market village. Three days of crafts, jesters, camp life, and concerts.
